Trainee Flock Manager

At Kaiapoi we are a hard working team building an impressive business. We want to employ people that will help us with that, in return we hope to build them as people and see them on to better careers. This role is firmly about developing you as a person.

We were one of the original AHDB monitor farms and we continue to have good links with them and you will attend many of their events. We are an Agri Epi centre of innovation as we are extremely progressive farmers. A desire to try new things and be open minded is essential.

We are predominately tenants so we expect your conduct to be professional and courteous at all times. We have lots of projects on the go and expect you to try lots of new skills, for example built another permanent handling system for the sheep – there’s always something new going on and you will need the enthusiasm and interest in the whole business to keep up!

We are a stud flock, DNA shepherding and recording our NZ Romneys on the NZ SIL system. We sell Rams and Ewe lambs for breeding and attend trade shows and speak at public events.

Above all, as a busy mixed business you will need to be a good team player who can put the needs of the business as a whole before your own. You will also need to be a great communicator, with so much going on in our business, communication is key and being able to solve problems on the hoof is a skill you will need to develop.
